For two decades I’ve been working at the leading edge of marketing and technology. I help brands create great marketing programs and I help technology companies build products brands can't live without.
As a marketing advisor, I help brands like Capital One and Factory define their social marketing visions and write social road maps and strategy plans. I run strategy and training workshops, conduct social audits, and offer project consulting.
As a technology advisor, I help vendors like Lithium and Simply Measured build and launch new products. I counsel product teams on features and functionality, I advise marketing teams on launch plans and positioning, and I deliver white papers and speeches that help my clients generate leads.
Previously I was VP and Principal Analyst at Forrester, where I developed big ideas like the Marketing RaDaR and The Database of Affinity and then helped marketers implement those ideas. Over 12 years I led Forrester’s coverage of social media, European marketing, and rich media and video advertising. In 2003 I founded JupiterResearch’s coverage of search. I created Forrester’s Social Technographics Score data model and ran the annual Forrester Groundswell Awards. Before that I developed online ad products and standards for DoubleClick (now Google), Macromedia (now Adobe), and the IAB.
I was born in Syracuse, NY, and studied computer mediated communication at Cornell University. I’ve worked in New York, London, Berlin and Vancouver. In my spare time I run a nonprofit called The Nourish Lab, cook at St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen, and help disabled people learn to sail on Jubilee Sailing Trust tall ships.
