For two decades I’ve been working at the leading edge of marketing and technology. I help brands create great marketing programs in a world where technology has radically changed their customers’ behaviors, and I help technology companies build software and solutions brands can't live without.

I currently serve as a product advisor to Simply Measured, working with their product, marketing, and executive teams to improve the company's already market-leading measurement suite and to launch its new social attribution product. This year I also sat on the board of advisors for Lithium Technologies, working with both their product team and their marketing team to launch the company's new social relationship platform, Lithium Reach.

Previously I served as Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester, where I developed the Marketing RaDaR and the Interactive Brand Ecosystem models to help marketers integrate digital and traditional channels into best-in-class brand marketing campaigns. I worked with senior marketers to implement these ideas at leading packaged goods, consumer electronics, financial services and pharmaceutical companies. I also created industry-leading ideas on the future of marketing, such as The Database of Affinity and Making Technology Invisible.

In more than 12 years as a research analyst, I also led Forrester’s research and consulting on social marketing, European interactive marketing, and rich media and video advertising. In 2003 I founded JupiterResearch’s coverage of search marketing. I also created Forrester’s Social Technographics Score data model and for five years I ran the annual Forrester Groundswell Awards. Previously I developed new online advertising products and standards in roles with DoubleClick (now Google), Macromedia (now Adobe), and the IAB.

I am regularly called upon by my clients and the media to provide analysis and insight into digital marketing and media. I’m a frequent speaker at industry events around the world, including top-rated keynotes at the Forrester Marketing Forum, NEXT Berlin, and Ad:Tech, as well as speeches at SXSW and the Web 2.0 Expo.

I was born in Syracuse, NY, and studied computer mediated communication at Cornell University. I’ve lived and worked in New York, London, Berlin and Vancouver. When I'm not thinking about marketing and technology you'll find me running a nonprofit called The Nourish Lab, volunteering as a cook at St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen, or volunteering as a watch leader and cook's assistant aboard Jubilee Sailing Trust tall ships.
